Facing championship point with only a second serve, McEnroe goes for a standard slice out wide to the Borg backhand. Borg expects this and begins prepping for the inside out mid-serve.

Check out how insane the placement of the forehand. It literally lands only a couple feet inside the service box. McEnroe almost bulldozes into the net, but manages to stop himself.

What a fitting point to showcase their talents. Borg’s uncanny ability to produce top spin in an era of wooden rackets and McEnroe’s genius level of serve and volley.

However, in this case it was probably a better shot to go for the inside in. Borg’s inside out is literally the best case placement but, the inside in is much faster and easier to hit from his position.
